World Water Day 2024 Poster Making Contest

Art transcends time and cultures–and the Metro Iloilo Water District–together with their JV Partner Companies the MPIW and MIB, gave the future generation to have their voices heard through their art in this year’s World Water Day On-the-Spot Poster Making Contest, which was held last March 25, 2024 at the MIWD Building.

This year’s World Water Day theme rings relevant for our children’s future: “Water For Peace”, echoing a growing concern of water turning into a scarce resource in the future–and when resources become limited, inter-border conflicts will surely arise.

Participants and their schools for this year’s On-the-Spot poster making contest were: Twyla Xianni J. Olarte of Iloilo Science and Technology University, Cassanda Joy Cautivar of Jaro National High School Rhadzphine Jude Juderial frpm Iloilo City National High School SPA, Daniel G. Herradura of UP Visayas High School, Nessa Joy Calantoc from Mandurriao National High School, Samantha Nicole B. Flores of WVSU Integrated Laboratory School and Krizna A. Cutanda from Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School.

Garnering 1st place was Daniel G. Herradura of Iloilo UP Visayas High School, followed by Nessa Joy Calantoc from Mandurriao National High School and Samantha Nicole B. Flores of WVSU Integrated Laboratory School taking in Second and Third place, respectively. The first place winner takes home 7,500 pesos, while the second and third place won 5,000 and 3,000 pesos respectively. The surprise winner for the day was Krizna A. Cutanda from Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School, who surprisingly captured the fancy of all four judges for the Manager’s Choice Award (MIWD, MPIW, MIB, and CENRO), winning 1,000 pesos for each Manager’s Choice totaling to 4,000 pesos.
The Judges for the Manager’s Choice Award were . Engr. Ariel Huyong for MIB, Mr. John Cañonero FOR MPIW, Janalle L. Legayada – Manejero for MIWD and Ma’am Mary Grace Salvi T. Hofilena for CENRO. Main Judges for the contest were distinguished artists Kim de Felipe,Rain Valenzuela and chief judge Ms. Lilian Luenberger.
