Early Arbor Day with MIB Tree Growing Activity @ Maasin Watershed

Metro Iloilo Water District returns back to its roots in the Maasin Watershed as it joined the Tree Growing Activity initiated by its JV company for water sourcing, the Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation, held at the Maasin Forest Reserve (MWFR) last June 23, 2026.

This partnership reaffirms MIWD’s commitment in protecting the very watershed that serves as a vital source of water for the provinces and city of Iloilo. In partnership with Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW), Metro Iloilo Bulk Water (MIB), and more than 100 volunteers, MIWD participated in the planting of 250 seedlings aimed at strengthening watershed protection efforts and promoting environmental sustainability. The tree growing activity is also a timely event, as it occurs just days before the provincial Arbor Day (set at June 25, 2026).

The activity, led by MIB and supported by key stakeholders including the Local Government Unit of Maasin, its MENRO and its and local barangay officials, the BFP Region VI Maasin Fire Station as well as the PNP Maasin Municipal Police Station. All of MIWD’s representative in this tree growing activity all come from the MIWD Watershed Protection Committee.
