Sto. Nino Elementary School–Bisita Eskwela 2023
Following a prolonged hiatus caused by the global pandemic, which restricted any form of physical human interaction, the management and staff of the Metro Iloilo Water District have resumed the Bisita Eskwela educational school tour program last December 4, 2023.
The Sto. Nino Elementary School in San Miguel, Iloilo, witnessed the revival of Bisita Eskwela program, with nearly 300 students from various grade levels attending informative sessions conducted by the MIWD staff, led by the Public Relations Department. Despite the school’s busy schedule, the school found the time to gather the students and listen in to the educational lectures, largely thanks to the accommodating attitude of their dynamic faculty, led by their school principal, Mr. John Dave Aligarbes.
Educational talks were delivered by “Tita” Cheryl Joy Menisis, focusing on the significance of water-saving tips in daily life. “Manang” Christy Palma-Giacaniga presented an engaging session on cleanliness and personal hygiene, while “Manong” Zandro addressed the sciences, emphasizing the importance of the Water Cycle and Climate Change. MIWD Management were also present, including OIC-General Manager Ms. Janalle Legayada-Manejero, Public Relations Chief Ellyn Joy Tabocolde-Fernandez and MIWD Technical Assistant Arnel Balbares, but had to leave early for a courtesy call with the Mayor of San Miguel, Iloilo.
The audience included faculty, parents, and members of the school PTA. The lecture concluded with a mini-orientation for teachers, parents, and other adults, shedding light on the distinctions and functions of MIWD and its JV Partner agencies, namely Metro Pacific Iloilo Water and Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation.
The event left both stomachs and minds satisfied, as Information, Education & Communication (IEC) brochures were distributed along with snacks to all student attendees, parents, and guardians present.
