MIWD Recognized by WWF Philippines as Institutional Partner

The Metro Iloilo Water District’s Climate Change and Risk Reduction Committee teams up with its JV partner company for water production, the Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply Corporation (MIB), to distribute potable water to climate-change vulnerable barangays all over Iloilo City.

Today’s donation drive recipients—dated October 21, 2024—were residents from Barangay Veteran’s Village, Iloilo City. 200 water containers were donated to 100 recipient families, with one recipient taking home two full water containers filled up with clean, drinkable treated water straight off the MIB Water Treatment Plant in Sta. Barbara.

All the Barangay Recipients are solely chosen by and in coordination with the Office of the City Government, taking into account their relative vulnerability to adverse climate change. All in all, there will be 16 barangay recipients that have been chosen by the Iloilo City Government.

Among the management from MIWD and MIB present for the donation drive were MIWD Department Manager Ms. Amarylis Josephine Castro and Division Manager Ms. Janalle Manejero, MIB Sustainability Manager Ms. Sheena Marie Antonio and Facilities Plant & MIB Maintenance Department Manager Engr. Ariel Huyong, together with Industrial Relations Officer Ms. Joy Menisis, Property Manager Mr. Norman Sanares, and MIB Plant Safety Officer Ms. Florence Harder.
