MPIW Water Desaliation Processing Plant Groundbreaking



The Management and Board of Directors of Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD) is proud to bear witness to the historic and landmark occasion hosted by the Metro Pacific Iloilo Water: the Groundbreaking of the Desalination Plant at Brgy. Ingore, Lapaz on February 21, 2025.

Giving their support to the project were Iloilo Provincial Governor Hon. Arthur Defensor, Jr., and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Trenas, Mayor, Iloilo City as both had given their words of encouragement and gratitude to the Desalination Plant project to those present.

The historic occasion warrented the rare attendeance by the top brass of the formidable Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPI) including Mr. Manny Pangilinan and Ramoncito Fernandez, Chairman and Director, respectively, of MPI, together with Mr. Andrew Pangilinan, President and CEO of Metro Pacific Water (MPW)

Bearing witness to the historic occasion were none other the Chairperson for the MIWD Board of Directors, Ms. Rebecca Maravilla, Board member Jeanette Lloyd, MIWD General Manager Alfredo Tayo, III, CESE, Board Corporate Secretary Atty. Aloysius De la Cruz and the Management of Metro Iloilo Water.

The 5.5 Billion Pesos Desalination Plant is the first of such in Western Visayas and is one of the largest in the whole Philippines. The Desalination Plant, once operational, will be able to provide 66.5 million liters per day, benefitting 50,000 households within the City of Iloilo, which would equal to 220,000 people per day.
